...robbing the mail is federal. The Mayor and / or the DA cannot get them out of jail. Further using guns in a federal crime increases the probability of prosecution to the fullest extent of the law unless the administration is democrat.
Liberals are like a "Slinky". Totally useless, but somehow ya can't help but smile when you see one tumble down a flight of stairs!
