My first thought . . . is that the 'Jesus Freaks' would most assuredly try to proselytize the aliens into accepting the Word of God irregardless.

I'm more interested in :

Let me see . . . Scenario one, Christians head out into space, meet aliens, decide that they are not 'Children of God' . . . And either they subjugate and make slaves of the aliens, or the aliens subjugate and make slaves of them . . . (Or one group eats the other.)

Scenario 2, Christians meet aliens, welcome them as brothers and either everybody lives peacefully and happily ever after . . . or whichever species has superior technology folds the weaker species into their empire.

Scenario 3, the two species collide and destroy each other in a cataclysmic War.

What do you think Christianity's response will be if humans ever find intelligent alien life (at this point, I think it's unlikely) and it looks nothing like us? Would it just drop the part about God creating man in His image, or would it hold to that and make it clear to the aliens that they were inferior to us or maybe even "not Children of God"? It would put our religions in quite a quandary! Hmm. My guess is that it would boil down to the growth rates of each species. If the aliens lived for just ten years and reproduced like rabbits, our religions might be be very interested in spreading on the alien world - particularly if there was money to be made in doing so. But if they lived 10,000 years with a stagnant population, the religions would probably throw in their respective towels knowing that this would never be "a growing market." Hmm. Could make for a good story. Zimbler???
