Re: “I don't know if Mama got some strange, or maybe they adopted.”
LOL. I found the following:Adoption of unrelated offspring by successful breeders is one form of brood mixing and alloparental care that is widespread among geese and other waterfowl. Biparental care and long-lasting family bonds in geese are likely to affect the costs and benefits of adoption. ”

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Yesterday I saw an excavator down in the traffic circle a block from my house.

So today I decided I'd take my three year old 'little monster' 'dinosaur hunting'. (Looking for and checking out construction equipment.)

So we walked up the street, then up the 'road' into what used to be the golf course and finally found our 'dinosaur' (excavator). It was just sitting there in front of a big pile of dirt.

A foreman strolled up and we chatted a little bit. Seems he has teenaged grandsons. He told us a dump truck should be along in a little bit.

Se we went strolling around a pond - and found a pair of geese with six little ones. Cool. Then we walked around the side of another pond, and found another proud pair of parent geese with six more little ones.

There was something odd about the second set. Every time I've ever seen parent geese with little ones the little ones are always about the same size (and age). This pair had four little ones noticeably bigger than the other two. The older four were darker and the smaller two had more yellow in their feathers. I don't know if Mama got some strange, or maybe they adopted. But I found it interesting.

Anyway, Mr. Casey and I walked on around and found the dump truck had arrived and the excavator was filling it up. Then it left, and another dump truck arrived and dumped a load of something where a road grader looked to be making a road bed in the hole the excavator was digging out the dirt.

Overall a nice morning.

Zim.
