Everybody knew the Russians were backing N. Korea in that conflict.
Everybody knew the Russians were behind the N. Vietnamese in that conflict.
Everybody knew that the Americans was backing the 'Mujahadeen' in Russia's little adventure in Afghanistan.
I call them 'Proxy Wars'. The U.S. and Russia can't fight each other directly. . . But they can back the countries the other would like to - by hook or by crook - fold into their influence.
And then Russia does have an exit route. They can withdraw from ALL of Ukraine - and this includes the Crimea.
Things are getting more interesting. It looks like 'somebody' launched a drone at the Kremlin. Now it might be that Ukraine did it - though Ukraine denies it. It could also be a Russian 'false flag' - as in Putin had a drone attack made so he could scream 'look at those evil Ukrainians'. Or, I think it is within the realm of possibility that a Russian tried to use a drone to assassinate Putin.
But for all Putins blustering "I GOT NUKES" somehow I doubt he'll actually use them. Not unless Ukraine's oncoming offensive succeeds beyond anybody's wildest dreams and Ukrainian tanks find themselves screaming towards Moscow.
