Re: “Sooner or later father time and mother nature will have their way with all of us. You are fooling no one but yourself and that won't last.”
I don't think you are current on the directions being pursued and the tremendous progress being made in life extensions. Not only are all of the brain's components identified and being simulated, some of the simulations are working with considerable success. (The Cerebral cortex, unfortunately, is the component that is proving the most challenging.) Huge progress is being made in Genetics and Nanotechnology, much of which has the goal of reversing diseases or replacing aged cells and organs with brand-spanking-new, defectless cloned versions. It's coming along with great speed. I mean, had you ever heard of mRNA gene therapy before, say, 2019?

Seven key aging processes that encourage senescence have been identified ( • DNA Mutations, • Toxic Cells, • Mitochrondrial Mutations, • Intracellular Aggregates, • Extracellular Aggregates, • Cell Loss and • Atrophy), and strategies for reversing each are being pursued aggressively.

Things only seem impossible until one day they happen. Then it's on to the next thing that's supposedly impossible but probably isn't.

I'd say we're looking at less than twenty years for immortality (meaning thousands of years of life) to be available, though perhaps only to a lucky few.
