Well, the graduation went off without a hitch and it didn't rain like it did two years ago for granddaughter #3. The graduation was outdoors, but it started at 8:00pm so it wasn't too hot.

This was taken just after the kids threw their caps into the air, and yes, this is a HIGH SCHOOL football stadium, the largest high school stadium in the US:

Note that there were close to a 1,000 graduates.

And here is our granddaughter getting her diploma:

I was just talking to our granddaughter in Texas, who's graduation is a week from Monday and which we'll be attending, and she was telling me how she's getting all her paperwork done for school in the fall. She'll be attending my alma mater in Michigan, majoring in Chemistry, and she was explaining that now that she's finished her final final, which was yesterday, AP Physics II, that she expects that she'll end the school years with all A's for this last period, and based on discussions she's had with her school counselor and the admissions officer at the college, that she'll be starting as a Sophomore (it appears that she'll have at least 46 AP credits which the university will be accepting). She's also been talking with the head of the Chemistry department about entering their five-years Masters program, which now, if she gets full credit for her AP classes, she could complete in four-years. This will be finalized during her orientation, which starts on August 20th (classes start the 28th). And if she does get into that program, that means that her four-year, full-tuition scholarship could cover not only her Bachelors, but also her Masters degree.

We're very proud of her and she said that she's lucky that she got such good grades. However, I explained to her that luck had nothing to do with her grades, that that was all her. Her luck was having supportive parents and being able to attend a good school.
