I would suggest Ukraine start negotiations soon to wind this down. At this point they have only lost ~20% of the country, and almost all the people in that 20% are ethnic Russian, and speak Russian. They next 30% --- which includes Odessa, where I spent over a month -- also includes a lot of ethnic Russians. I would hate to see it unnecessarily leveled - there is a lot of nice architecture there.
