I have a friend visiting from Athens, we went to college with and did our Masters at Stevens Tech, the place were all the Bell Labs scientists taught. Bell Labs is what America has become today, technology wise.
Our professors, Alfred Aho(Nobel prize), S. S. Shapiro(Artificial Intelligence), and Dr, Bosch(spelling may be wrong), all worked on stuff that today is ChatGpt, infallible(graph theory) networks etc., there were no books at the time, we just copied everything from the blackboard.
All the high end tech of today was taught at Stevens Tech. They also designed the Apollo floating balloons on reentry.
Aho used to say on first day of class ”30% will fail, 30% will get a C, and maybe a percentage will get a B, but I never give an A.”
F any engineering schools of the day. Stevens was where the future was being made.
Shapiro gave me an A. Aho was a B. Three As and B in a semester at Stevens was like Trump says ….YUUUUGE!
Artificial Intelligence I know inside and out.
What times. my French Canadian roomate, when I moved in campus for a semester, studied Ship Engineering, all day all night, and got 3 Bs and an A, and said to me “ How do you fking Greeks get those grades, you sleep all the time….” There were three other Greeks that got better grades than him. LOL
Those were the days but I wouldn’t repeat them for anything, and the few women at Stevens were dorks. No partying there . A nerd school. I don’t know to this day why I went there. I should have gone to Pepperdyne U, and hung out with the Malibu girls. I could have gotten into Hollywood and live in Beverly Hills today. A fkup, no?
