I have been tpld that Advantage plans usually serve larger towns and cities, but supplement plans are available everywhere. Also, you can always change to an Advantage plan but you have to meet health standards to change from Advantage to supplement. (When first signing up you can join either one, but changing after that is a one-way street.)
I got a supplement plan because I don’t know where we might want to move to in the future. Also, there is a lot of money spent trying to sell Advantage plans.
