...it's just like yachts. Regular folks can't afford em, but regular folks can make a good living building em.

In my current quest to learn a little more about the non-governmental achievements in space travel, the first article I found about Axiom Space's private venture to take 'civilians' to the International Space Station . . . spent a fair amount of time whining about the 'iniquities' of the matter. As in only rich white dudes were going into space . . . Not enough women had been sent into space . . . And, obviously, poor people were not going to be sent into space.

And I found myself asking "Do I really want My Money being stolen out of my pockets to send 'poor people' on joy rides into outer space?" And the answer to that question was "Absolutely NOT!"

Can I afford a trip into outer space? No.

Am I going to get upset because only rich old white dudes can afford to pay and send themselves up to the Space Station? Again, No.

Money buys all sorts of things 'poor people' can not afford. Does that mean 'We' should steal the moneys and what not the rich have to 'give to the poor'? Really now, why should I go along with having what creature comforts I can afford being taken from me in the name of 'equity' and given to clowns who have done absolutely nothing to deserve them?

I am all for equal rights. I firmly believe that everybody should have the opportunity to get a good education, master a trade, even become business owners, and if they are smart enough and ambitious enough and they find themselves rich enough to buy themselves a ticket into space, well, More Power To Them.

There was a time when only the rich could afford airplanes. The rich wanted better airplanes . . . the military needed more better airplanes . . . and today we have affordable jet liners. I suspect space travel will go the same way. If the rich and the government want to get into space badly enough . . . Eventually the means to make it affordable will come about and we'll get there.

But this 'equity' nonsense and the rest of its 'hangers-ons' - like DEI, CRT, ESG, etc. etc. etc. will only serve to make the endeavor impossible.

Zim.
