...my great-great grandfather owned slaves. Fought in the civil war. Captured somewhere and spent time in a union prison. The land and all the buildings and property he had owned were either destroyed or given to the slaves who lived there. The slaves who lost everything lost it to carpetbaggers. My great great grandfather was released from the union prison at the end of the war but he had to walk home from Illinois. On the way back he was bitten by a rabid dog. He managed to get back to the old home place and it was gone. The family had been scattered to the winds. He had nothing left and nobody and he had rabies. He shot himself.

...war over, guilty punished. End of story.

EVERY single family in northern states during the Civil War
who lost a family member fighting for the Union should be entitled to reparations from the BLACK FAMILIES and Peoples and their descendants who were made free at the cost of many non-slaveholding people in the North.

I think it only fair if the Black people today can claim that they are entitled to free money because some distant relative 400 years ago and longer was enslaved in the South and yet gained their freedom by the blood and lives of Northern Soldiers and families.

The VAST Majority of slaves were not killed nor lost their lives. MANY if not most had a fairly good living condition if they had good owners.

That said, who enslaved these people from Africa?

Nobody seems to want to bring that out into the light?

It was other BLACKS who captured these people in Africa and then sold them to the black slave traders who boated them to the US for profits.

The very thought of this instution turns my stomach and is unfathomable but much of the entire world was like this in ages past.. As Zim points out in his post there is still a lot of slave practices going on in the world today...

So I think every Union soldiers family is entitled to reparations from the BLAcks here.
