We're still playing with on-line auctions. Yesterday's was the biggest so far with exactly 300 lots. We won 23 of them.

The most interesting win was also the most expensive: A museum-framed Weekly Journal Page from 1728 (shown below) for $48.

We also won two lots of Hummel figurines for $21 and $25. They too are shown below.

The last 'great buy' was an HP Officejet Pro 6830 All-In-One printer for $6. I won a laserjet in a different auction just a few days ago, but this printer is color, ideal for photos and, more importantly, has a scanner. Refurbished 6830s currently sell on Amazon for $393.62.

The other items were less compelling: • a vintage set of medical encyclopedias, • Block Spal Portugal Demitasse Cups and Saucers, • a Lefton China Hand Dish, Vase & More, • a used 3 gallon Humidifier, • Decorative Wreaths & Faux Florals, • a space heater, • an old toolbox with tools, • a Faux ivy plant, • a Faux plant in a basket, • Two beautiful 6" Blue geode bookends, • Crystal pieces and Ceramic Wall Vases, • Ceramic Pot, Glass Orb & Glass Heart, • Wired Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones and 2 CD players, • an antique framed print, • a Faux succulent, • an assortment of Cobalt Blue Glass pieces, • an antique Corner Cabinet, • a set of 2 fans, • a Brookstone Ultrasonic Cleaner and Crock Pot.

If there's curiosity about any of these, let me know. I'd be happy to put up the auctionhouse photos.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

We participated in another auction last night and came away with eight wins. We spent a total of $115 + 15% Seller's Fee = $132.25. More than half was spent on the printer - but I planned to buy a laser printer for the new office, so this was something I really wanted.

Our bid: $71. On Amazon, it's $119.98.Our bid: $6.
Far and away the best deal of the night. Though Brookstone no longer makes it, a comparable one by Carepeutic is $138.68 on Amazon.

Our bid: $9. These are 6-pint canning jars. Our bid: $2
Our bid: $6. This was the worst buy. I mistook them for snow gloves. Harbor Freight has them for $7.Our bid: $1

Our bid: $9Our bid: $11. These are $29.97 at Home Depot. But note that the box is open. We don't know how many bags remain.
