Well Boss,
What the Sun's gravitational pull does to the earth is to hold it in its orbit. I can't see where the Sun's gravitational pull should have anything to do with earth's climate.
However, as I've been seeing in my latest researches, the gravitational pulls of Jupiter and Saturn CAN slightly alter the earth's orbit and that should cause some change in our climate.

Not to change the subject but have we thought anything about the effects of the gravitational pull of our sun on the climate of our planet? I suspect that has something to do with it also.. just thinking out loud.. I have no idea...
