“ People in Florida didn’t ask for this and don’t want this. More than three-quarters of Floridians, 77%, opposed permitless carry in a University of North Florida poll in March.

In law enforcement, too many officials capitulated to politicians and refused to speak against further weakening of Florida’s lax gun laws.

One notable exception is Orange County Sheriff John Mina in Orlando, who said of the new law: “It’s not going to make our communities safer. It’s going to make them more dangerous.” Another is Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony, who said he totally disagreed with permitless carry.

Shocking gun violence

The level of gun violence in Florida was shocking enough without a permitless carry gun law. Here are some recent cases of gun violence, as reported by the Sun Sentinel:

Nine people were wounded in a Memorial Day shootout on crowded Hollywood Beach Broadwalk.

A man and woman were killed in a shooting near I-95 in Deerfield Beach.

A 17-year-old was shot to death at a Sweet 16 party in Boynton Beach.

Two people were shot outside a Walgreens in Plantation.

A toddler was shot and killed in Pompano Beach.

A man was shot multiple times in a busy Miramar nightclub.”

Minority rule will ruin America.
