First things first: There are too many tourists in Europe’s best places. As I mentioned, Athens’ historical neighborhoods and sites were a zoo. I avoided even going by them. I have no patience for such crowds. Same thing happens in some of the major tourist islands. I avoided them too. I know where to go. I understand people wanting to visit famous destinations but it has become a burden for locals and the visitors themselves. Funny thing is quiet places, like those the famous ones once were, are now more popular with those who really want to have a superior experience, and they now are becoming expensive as knowledgeable people flock to them. So, something’s got to give. Btw, same thing has happened to a favorite place of mine, Key West. Another, Jackson Hole, and on and on down the line.
Finally, Americans are still “Americans”. They will go for slap anyday. The report spent more time on some bozos taking pictures of doors from a show….a report about overcrowding with a few bozos thinking they are spending quality time photographing a door…….Go figure.
Anyway, the world is getting fked up. I am so glad yet sad that I experienced some of these places in their actual prime without the massive crowds.
