Re: "If the door seals are good - and I couldn't tell from any of the photos - it was a great buy."

The $2 refrigerator's door seals were in excellent shape, but I still haven't tried the machine. I've read that after transporting a refrigerator on its side, it should always stand upright for at least 24 hours before being used... so that's what I'm doing. The radiator on the underside was absolutely coated with lint, so I did take the opportunity to vacuum it off. Now that the unit is upright again, I'll probably never get another chance.

In the past week, I've spent a total of $87 and bought two freezers and a refrigerator/freezer. I'm feeling pretty good.

Today I was also offered all sorts of free things from the first pickup where the entire house needed to be emptied before going on the market (I took two free dehumidifiers) and, half an hour later, I bought a $15 dehumidifier that looks almost new from the second site. I didn't misspeak -I returned with an unexpected THREE dehumidifiers from the two auction-win pickups! Dehumidifiers run $150 to $250 apiece when they're new, and I almost never see them at yard sales. Moreover, I was already shopping for one on Amazon, so this was quite a coup.

I could have come home with a bunch of other freebies from that first pickup - several stereo systems, for instance -- but I was worried about getting everything from the second pickup site into what I knew would be a very full truck. I took a free Tripp-Lite power conditioner, and a free collapsible workbench. Neither took up much space. We'd opted to do the two pickups without bringing the flatbed trailer - which was the right decision, but wow, was the truck ever full! Getting everything inside was tight.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

We won eight items in tonight's auction and only spent $39 including the seller's premium. My favorite - which we won for just two dollars - was this Whirlpool refrigerator/freezer, described as having a working ice maker but with an ice bucket that doesn't stay put. That's okay. This will go in the basement. There's no water hookup down there, so I won't be using the ice maker or water dispenser. If the door seals are good - and I couldn't tell from any of the photos - it was a great buy.
