Based on the video and the three homes destroyed, my guess is that this "water tank issue" could be better described as "a gas leak."

I have fond memories of a certain 'Myth Busters' episode. Where they built their own little house, removed all the safety features that are supposed to keep a hot water heater from blowing up . . . then heated it till it did blow up.

It blew through the roof and over a hundred feet into the air.
