Gunning down unarmed foreign citizens trying to illegally cross our border would not be a moral act. If they shot at our border patrol or other law enforcement officers, then hell yeah - unleash a hail of bullets - but not unarmed people who are peacefully making their way across. Apprehend them and immediately transport them back to their side of the border, yeah ... and if they keep coming like they have been for many, many years, now ... build effective barriers that will funnel them into choke points where they will be apprehended easier.
Problem is ... securing the borders of the United States falls under the direct purview of the federal government, not individual states. Therefore, the governor of a border state is between the proverbial rock and a hard place if the federal government abrogates its responsibility to secure the border. And, since the dereliction of this federal duty is very much intentional on the part of the Biden administration, it will take every means it can to thwart any state governor's attempts to do the federal government's job and secure its border.
The process of lawful immigration is hopelessly broken at the federal level. The Democrat Party sees wide open borders as a means of supplanting American citizens with more dependent, compliant voters. And unfortunately, the Chamber of Commerce appears to have tunnel vision and see wide open borders as simply access to cheap labor.
So, no ... we shouldn't be gunning down unarmed illegal aliens attempting to cross the border. Actually, there's a much more deserving group of people for that kind of treatment ... the ones who are creating this problem in the first place by irresponsibly ignoring their duty to defend and secure our nation's borders ... Democrats.
