Re: “I am drowning in Roma tomatoes...”
Over the last few years, I took notes about a lot of tomatoes. Romas aren't anybody's favorite for flavor, stuffing, canning or beauty, but they sure are prolific. They ripen sooner than any of the other non-cherries I planted, and their season lasts as late as any of the plants that produced at all. For that reason romas are among the four or five varieties that I'll grow every year.

Except for this year. I've been too busy for gardening.

BTW, dog poop makes for crappy fertilizer!

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

I am drowning in Roma tomatoes... I only put five plants in because we usually just kill them all because we have the black thumb of death when growing anything to eat.

This year is different for some reason.. The plants have thrived and we are being over run with the fruit. I am running out of neighbors to give tomatoes to.

I guess the soil on the side of the house where I buried dog manure for decades was well fertilized. Its all I can think of. The sad thing is I don;t even like eating tomatoes except a slice on a an occasional burger.
