I wondered. HAven't buried any of that over there in about 5 years now and I always added a scoop of soil everytime I added a "donation" to the hole. Looks like regular dirt and no smell so I guess it was alright..
Those Roma plants were brought here by my son in law who had them leftover from his planting them from seeds. He has about 20 plants growing that is a mixture of Romas and Big Boys. I do not eat tomatoes except on a burger and in some sauces. I just never liked them from my childhood and still cannot eat a plain old tomato. On the other hand,
I love Herring in cream sauce, Shoo-Fly pie, prime rib, ribeye steaks, occasionally a Filet Mignon, slightly charred on outside, medium rare inside, and on rare occasions a little pizza, steak hoagies, and salads.
These should work okay for grilling burgers and anything else my wife decides she wants. We are giving them away to neighbors and family members.....
