Re: “There was a time when I could drive easily 12 hours and did. As age progressed that diminished a little.”
Driving long hours is extremely stressful. There's no doubt about it.

The early symptoms of diabetes insipidus, which I was recently diagnosed with, began with migraines when I was fourteen. The disease made me dehydrated and sapped me of electrolytes. In hindsight, after it was named, the disease's side effects became obvious... even predictable! But I suffered from dehydration-related migraines for more than forty years and no doctor ever once told me to just drink a Gatorade each morning. (It was actually a visiting home-nurse who suggested this in 2020. Her suggestion made a dramatic difference in my life. I still shake my head about that.)

When we drove to Virginia in 2005, we spent just one night in a hotel. The day before we got there, I had a migraine after sleeping upright at a rest stop. About half an hour later - as the first migraine went away - I had a second. Half an hour later, a third. All totaled, I had about TEN of them, one right after the other. It was by far the worst bout of migraines I've ever had. I was starting to wonder if I was dying! I'm sure it was due to all the driving. Sitting for extended periods without much opportunity to either walk or lie down is not something the human body was built for. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it played a role in clogging your arteries.
