F-35 pilot ejected from $100M jet over South Carolina due to ‘bad weather’

The plane continued on for over 30 minutes, covering some 80 miles. I can’t imagine what the weather must have been like that a Navy pilot couldn’t handle. I would guess there was some airport within 80 miles where he could have landed it.

If the weather was really THAT bad, I would have preferred the protection of an aircraft rather than a parachute.
