Trump appears to be under the impression that if the government is shut down that this means that the investigations as well as the indictments against him will also be halted, but that's not true. Funding for the DOJ, along with the FBI and other critical agencies, continues irrespective as to whether the House passes a funding bill or not.

Two House Republicans say they might work with Democrats to avoid a government shutdown

House Republicans are in a stalemate over funding the government as a Sept. 30 deadline looms, and two freshmen GOP lawmakers said that they’re open to breaking with Speaker Kevin McCarthy to work with Democrats to avoid a shutdown. Reps. Marc Molinaro and Mike Lawler both represent New York districts that voted for President Joe Biden in 2020.
