In addition to the gold necklace of dubious value, my wife and I also "won" the following at this evening's auction:

• An unused 250' roll of Cat5 cable for $11, • A partially used 1,000' roll of Cat5 cable for ONE dollar, • Three lots of books for $1, $1 and $2 respectively, • Glassware for $8, • About 25 DVDs for $1, • Two lots of Chandelier Crystals for $11 and $6, respectively, • Sandbags made of tarp material for $1.

For a change, more of the purchases were my wife's doing than mine... but I guess I outspent her by quite a bit.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Re: “Think they might be curious as to what happened to one of their trophies?”
It'd be more interesting to know what happened to the caddie - but his name isn't on the trophy so it'd be hard to know. The Association probably has a record of who came in 3rd in 1953.

Just think: If he was a 20 year old kid when he won this plate, he's turning 90 this year. If he's that lucky. But the odds are I've got his trophy because he DIDN'T turn 90 this year.
