As for Christie, I think because he's so tough on Trump he had to find another issue to try to rally republicans around, slapping teachers unions is an easy one.
What did you think of the 'sex jokes' about exactly who it was that Joe Biden and Mike Pence are sleeping with? BTW, Chris Christie doubled-down today saying that he meant every word that he said about Jill Biden and how she represents the worst that there is when it comes to teachers and the teacher's union and how having a union activity 'sleeping with the President' is one of the biggest problems that our nation has.
