My older brother in law by 5 years is now in hospice and does not have long to live. He developed some kind of an infection in his blood stream and the doctors removed some toes from his right foot last week.
A couple days later the bodily infection was progressing and moved into his leg.. They wanted to remove his entire right leg.. He said no.. Apparently the intravenous antibiotics are not helping at all with the infection and he has a very limited time to live.
He is a Vietnam Vet and saw ground action there as an Army PVC. I always looked up to him as my big brother and we played a lot of mens class A softball together when we were much younger. He acquired Rheumatoid arthritis in his early thirties and it has just eaten him alive. His wife, my wife's older sister, died five years ago suddenly and that really was the beginning of the end for him. She was his caregiver and dressed him , bathed him, basically did everything for him.
He was LOST when she left this world and went home to Heaven. So he has no desire to remain here.. He is in bad physical condition and he really wants to go on so he can see his wife again and all the other family that is already there.. Kind of a sad time but also a time of relief for his daughters and especially him.
I hope Bonnie is waiting for him at the Eastern Gate along with our mother and father in law and other brother in law Dan, An Army sergeant in Vietnam.
My wife is close to Connie, his wife and they walk together daily for exercise. I help Connie with anything
around the house that may be electrical or something else. Its the least I can do...
So, this Holiday season will be special for JIM and the first one his daughters will be without parents.
My wife is kinda unofficially the Mom figure for them as well as Connie.
I would like to say goodbye to Jim but it seems there are no visitors allowed. I'll miss him greatly....
