Do all your purchases HAVE to be smart?? If I want something I don't care what it's worth or anything like that. I buy it because I like it and I want it..

My daughters can figure out later whether they keep the things me and miz micro have bought over our lifetimes.

Buy what YA want iffen you like it and don't worry about what it's worth. Ya has one limited time lifespan here on planet earth so just enjoy it while ya still has time...

Just my thoughts that were not asked for.......... lol!!

I like those rings.. You guys sound like us. The only thing we agree on is what Miz Micro wants.. lol!!!!

Re: “I wonder what the age of these spoons and plate are?”
The spoon is patented 1834, so it must have been produced about that time. The plate is from a tournament in 1953.

My wife and I apparently make a good team. She buys things she likes while I buy things that are worth more than I'm paying. Or try to, anyway. Between the two of us, and our criticisms of what the other one wants, we're mostly getting attractive things that have some value. Mostly, though, auctions are fun, especially when there's not a lot of competition doing its homework.

Did I ever mention the sterling rings and crucifix I bought last month? (See the photos, below.) I tried to find an Atomicbobs' reference to them but failed, so I suspect not. I was pretty sure I'd done well with them, paying $22 plus the seller's markup of $3.30. It turns out that the three sterling items (one of the rings is not sterling) weigh just 26 grams. They're pretty, but I lost money on the deal which is annoying. (26 grams of sterling are worth about $18.)

I'm just pointing out that not all my buys are smart - but I'm learning. In this case, I've learned that rings weigh a lot less than what they look like, and I've been overestimating their value. I'll be more careful in the future.
