Long wall or short wall?
I suspect most of the 'bench' will wind up 'junque collectors' (or places where goodies get stacked awaiting the next project). A lot of shelving might be a better idea.

But I would most definitely plan on making a very heavy duty real Work Bench. I'm thinking two 2X12's eight feet long for the top. 4X4 legs and plenty of 2X4 for structure and support. Add in a plywood shelf underneath . . . maybe some drawers under the top . . .

I'm sure you've thought of putting peg-board on one wall with the little hooks for hanging tools on?

Zim.

Exactly. If it doesn't prove practical as a workbench, it should work just fine as kindling.

My plan is to line one of the barn walls with workbenches. Since I don't currently have any custom workbenches, these inefficient but already-made pieces will have to do.
