Re: “I CANNOT RUN or possibly get my heart rate up high for the very fact that I can barely walk as it is.”
If they're doing a certain kind of chemical stress test, there's no walking involved - so you should ask them to clarify that point. Just tell them that you cannot walk a treadmill and see if you'll need to do that.

As for firing a cardiologist, yes, I've actually done that. My Mom's cardiologist had a tantrum when I told him I'd been in touch with a world renowned cardiologist who questioned why there hadn't been an investigation as to the cause of her congestive heart failure. I couldn't believe that a doctor could be as immature as that man was. Screw his feelings. My mother's life was on the line. Firing him was easy: One of us wrote to the hospital and explained what had occurred and insisted on a different cardiologist. We got one right away. He, unfortunately, didn't get fired by Kaiser Permanente as he should have. I only regret that no one in my family wrote to the AMA about him. That would have had a greater impact.

By the way, it was an endocrinologist who diagnosed my mother's hyperthyroidism. Had she not been diagnosed, it would have killed her in short order. It was treated - which halted the degradation of her heart - and she lived eight more years.

Any ideas on how to tell a cardiologist, especially a very young one who apparently has waaaaaaaayyyy to many patients to spend any time with me or any of them, that you don;t like him and are going to change doctors even if it means going to a different Medical group at another local competing hospital that is affiliated with the Cleveland Clinic?

That's about where I am. I lie the Nurse practitioner better than him.. At least she will talk to ya and answer questions.

I really liked my surgeon. He was great.

Here's a scenario to ponder:

The brain trust at cardiology wants me to do a stress test with the nuclear infusion so I can light up a Christmas tree with a black light.

Here is what I cannot seem to get thru these nitwits.

I CANNOT RUN or possibly get my heart rate up high for the very fact that I can barely walk as it is.

So under what circumstance am I ever gonna need to have my heart tested for something I cannot physically do even if I wanted and at my age and condition, am never going to do? My heart is never gonna be stressed like that in real life...

So why should I do this uncomfortable thing?

It's exactly what I am going to ask the NP when I see her in December. Maybe she is unaware I can't physically run and will never get my heart rate up beyond walking on a limited basis..

I'll wait to see what she has to say about that but I am not that interested in being seen with a black light at midnight lighting up in some weird radioactive color..
