The second and third of tonight's wins were actually the same thing: 500 pieces of PCS First Day Cover Stamps. The first set ran from 1973 - 1993. The second was from 2004 - 2013.

I'm a stamp collector, but I've never been much interested in these first day cover stamps - mostly because they're expensive. But two collections of 500? They had to have cost several dollars apiece (so a few thousand dollars in total) when they were purchased. I got them for $37 and $38, respectively.

Tonight's auction items came with a 15% auction house premium, so the two lots + premium totaled $86.25.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

We won three lots at auction tonight with seemingly light competition. The first was a uranium glass trio which I'd have expected to sell in the $50 - $75 range. We won it for $21.

They were described as "Group of 3 assorted Depression green vaseline glassware pieces including a mixing bowl, a juicer, and a Thumbprint cereal bowl. Federal Glass Co. & Hazel Atlas Glass Co.

~2nd quarter of 20th century

Various sizes / Notes: Assorted Depression Green Vaseline Glassware is pre-owned showing light signs of wear commensurate with age & use and have no major apparent identifiable flaws."

I've wanted some vaseline glass (which is a type of uranium glass) but seriously wonder if that's what these are. To me, they look no different from regular uranium glass. I think vaseline glass is supposed to be yellowish when it's not under a UV light.
