Finally - and this is NOT an auction win but a Facebook Marketplace find - my wife found a woman in Massachusetts selling a whole bunch of cool rocks, crystals and minerals. I don't know why someone hadn't snapped them up since they'd been listed for 12 hours already, but they didn't and we got 'em. $50 for the lot. My wife therefore has to be on the road at 8:00 tomorrow for the two hour drive and 10 a.m. pickup.

The worst part of getting this is that we had significant snow last night... the wet, soggy variety, and we're at the new house with its quarter mile gravel driveway and no snow blower. The plan HAD been to just let it melt, but the need to pick up these minerals tomorrow killed that plan. Consequently, I spent more than four hours shoveling, then v-e-r-y cautiously driving the car down what I'd shoveled. I think I've mentioned it before, but getting into a slide on that driveway could definitely prove fatal - the driveway parallels a ravine! So going down it today made me a tad nervous. All's well that ends well, though. I'm incredibly sore this evening and don't even want to think about what I'll feel like in the morning.

Lots of photos follow.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

The second and third of tonight's wins were actually the same thing: 500 pieces of PCS First Day Cover Stamps. The first set ran from 1973 - 1993. The second was from 2004 - 2013.

I'm a stamp collector, but I've never been much interested in these first day cover stamps - mostly because they're expensive. But two collections of 500? They had to have cost several dollars apiece (so a few thousand dollars in total) when they were purchased. I got them for $37 and $38, respectively.

Tonight's auction items came with a 15% auction house premium, so the two lots + premium totaled $86.25.
