Per Larry Brown Sports, the Big 12 Commissioner's comments back in August were a little more snarky than I thought ...

... Back in August, Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark made some remarks that stuck in the craw of those from Texas. He encouraged Red Raiders head coach Joey McGuire to “take care of business” against the Longhorns just as they had a year ago because he’d be in attendance for the game.

“Candidly, we were able to get Texas and Oklahoma out of here early. That was a big deal for us and I think for all of you. And, (Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire), I’m not going to put any pressure on you. But I’m going to be in Austin for Thanksgiving. And you better take care of business like you did right here in Lubbock like you did last year,” Yormark said at the time.

True to his word, Yormark was in attendance. And as the game reached its conclusion, Texas made sure he ate those words.

With Texas departing for the SEC next season, they wanted to offer up a proper goodbye to Yormark and the Big 12. They did so with a hilarious display on their video board which began with a replay of Yormark’s “take care of business” speech and ended with a, “See y’all in Arlington!”

“I got a chance to see Brett before the game and like I said, I appreciated him coming to our game tonight,” Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said after the game, via ESPN. “But man, we’ll take anything we can get to fire our guys up, and so I kind of thanked him for the video. … So to show that video to the stadium and to all of our fans, I think was just kind of all part of the celebration of it all. I know he’ll be there again next week. So hopefully we can put on one more good show for him.” ...

The current commissioner deliberately put his foot in his mouth at the start of the season because he was having a lil' snit about Texas and Oklahoma leaving the Big 12 for the SEC. I understand why he is pissed, but the Big 12 sat there for years with its thumb up its ass passively watching Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, Texas A&M, and now Texas & Oklahoma walk away from the conference. So, the Big 12 needs to take a good, long look in the mirror when they are assigning blame.

Anyway, Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark really, REALLY deserved this ...

Texas taunts Big 12 commissioner after blowout win to clinch spot in conference title game

The Texas Longhorns handed Texas Tech a blowout loss Friday and taunted Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark while they were at it.

By clinching a Big 12 conference title game berth in the 57-7 win, Texas secured another opportunity to make a point ahead of their departure for the SEC next year.

Back in August, Yormark spoke at a Red Raider Club luncheon and made some controversial comments as he rooted for the Red Raiders to beat Texas in their regular-season finale. He bolstered his address with a reference to Texas Tech's 37-34 overtime win against Texas last season.

"Coach, I’m not going to put any pressure on you, but I’m going to be in Austin for Thanksgiving, OK? And you better take care of business like you did right here in Lubbock last year,” Yormark said, addressing Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire.

Obviously, Friday night's outcome wasn't what the conference commissioner was hoping to see. Even worse, the Longhorns kept receipts and put them on the big screen.

In the fourth quarter of the statement win, the video board at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium lit up with Yormark's comments. Texas added "see y'all in Arlington" in bold text. You can watch the entire display below.

Initially, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said he wasn't taking Yormark's comments too seriously.

"We know who’s behind us, and that’s OK. Now let’s go play," Sarkisian said, via the Austin American-Statesman.

But even then, he made sure to question the commissioner's intentions.

"I got a letter from the commissioner about sportsmanship the day before that speech,” Sarkisian added. “So I'm trying to figure out what are we promoting to our student-athletes and then to go say those types of things? So I'm not guessing he's gonna have his Thanksgiving dinner with us the night before that game."

Although it's a little petty, Texas' taunting on Friday night seems to align with Sarkisian's comments. The team improved its record to 11-1, and the Longhorns could make a College Football Playoff appearance before leaving the Big 12.

Ah, Brett ... you're a big boy ... if you're going to open you big fat yap and say stupid things ... and then show up for the game rooting for Tech to beat the snot out of Texas on its way out of the conference ... well ... you richly deserve having your ass handed to you on a silver platter, you dumbass.
