The answer to that question is 'Yes'.

Yucca Mountain. Then, once the spent rods are in there, build a nuclear fuel rod reprocessing plant also inside Yucca Mountain.

Given the technology for turning non-fissionable uranium into fissionable plutonium we should be set for the next several hundreds of years.

By which time, hopefully, fusion will be on line.

It simply shows the next President will have to reverse that crap. I am in favor of Nuclear powered plants but the age old question still lingers, can we safely and continuously dispose of spent rods?
