I wouldn't buy an EV

An EV is out for the near term because:
1. I won’t have a car I can’t put gas in in case I am away from a charging station, and
2. I can’t put a charging station in my house. The power box is on the west side and the garage is on the east side. It would be too expensive to route the power.

The most I would do is get a hybrid but that would still have a big enough battery to start a large fire.

But, I usually get this far and then wonder what I would gain by buying a hybrid with its higher costs and marginally better gas mileage. I guess that is my answer.

Re: “but I keep coming back to this question. Am I being overly cautious?”
Probably not. The fact is, there are so many reasons I wouldn't buy an EV that I've never given "fire risk" much thought! How often do EVs catch fire? Do they do it even when they're parked... or receiving an overnight charge?
