GM Nacl01 !

My daughter in Virginia has had a hybrid Toyota Prius for a very long time (her husband) and never had a problem.
He finally traded it in and got a newer hybrid. Another Toyota. They seem to work well for them with local driving. My daughter's Audi SUV is not a hybrid.

SO I think she does not share Matt's enthusiasm or ot could be they simply use the gas engine car to take long trips with on vacation retreats.

As far as the potential to have a battery fire caused by a lithium battery, it's always a risk of some percentage and that it depends on your risk tolerance level.

I personally would not store an EV in my garage or real close to the house just for the possibility that if it does ignite, you don't lose both your car AND the House..

There's isn't much chance of that with me because I would not own one. I just do not like them.. But everyone is different.. So I would not be afraid of it.. Just make sure your insurance company would cover it in case of a fire.. And NO, I would not park it in my garage in case it ever does up in flames.

Would any of you be concerned about keeping a large lithium battery in their garage? I keep hearing about fires in these cars. We are thinking about getting a new car and a hybrid is one consideration, but I keep coming back to this question. Am I being overly cautious?
