There's nothing like waking up at 4:30 to heavy rain and 18 mph wind. 18 mph might not sound like much, but if they say 18 it'll probably be 30 where I am. That means it's time to get up and (1) take a shower, (2) fill the bathtub, (3) do laundry, (4) charge batteries, phones and book-lamps, (5) unplug sensitive appliances, and (6) do anything else that requires electricity.

I'd say there's a fifty / fifty chance of a power outage in the next 24 hours.

One thing that's kind of neat is that because my laptop and our router/hot spot both run off batteries, I may be able to stay on-line for a little while even if the power goes out. For me to be knocked abruptly off-line, the storm would have to take out the cell tower too, and that's much less likely.
