X Marks the Probe: Elon Musk, the billionaire who has embraced a litany of conspiracy theories, has a problem on his hands — one that cannot be easily dismissed via tweet. The European Union on Monday announced it has opened a formal investigation into his imperiled social media platform, X, over its actions around content moderation, or lack thereof. "Today we open formal infringement proceedings against @X," Thierry Breton, a E.U. commissioner on digital regulation, said. If the E.U. finds X to have violated its rules, Musk could be on the hook for paying steep fines. Of course, this comes at a terrible time for the erratic businessman, with X already facing considerable financial pressure amid a major advertiser exodus. CNN's Brian Fung has more.
