Absolutely. Any time you're unhappy with your doctor, his [lack of] diagnoses, his lack of progress or cooperation, find someone else.

I'm in that boat myself. I *had* the best general practitioner I've ever had. He correctly diagnosed two things that all my other doctors had missed. The diabetes insipidus symptoms were there for anyone to see for at least thirty years... and I'd done a lot of complaining, but nobody else figured it out or even did much looking.

How did the medical system he's part of rward this this excellent professional? They fired him... as best as anyone knows. In the Spring, he was abruptly GONE. No notice given. His nurses don't know what happened. Per the internet, he's now working at a hospital in Kennebunkport Maine. Their gain; our loss.

Did he just quit? Maybe, but I don't think so. When I was told I needed surgery, I wanted a second opinion that would be independent of that doctor or hospital, so I chose for my personal cardiologist a doctor in Brattleboro VT, unaffiliated with the NH medical system. He told me this fall that Dartmouth, my medical system, just lost a LOT of doctors. Around 25, I think he said. He didn't say why but left me with the impression that Dartmouth is slashing costs. Maybe my doctor didn't have enough patients to fill a quota. Maybe he spent too much time with each of us. Maybe he ordered too many tests. I don't know, but I really liked him and was shocked and saddened by his departure.

How's his replacement? Would you believe NONEXISTENT? The "doctor" at the clinic for the last nine months is a nurse practitioner. Though she might be a great nurse, I can easily see the difference between her and a doctor. When we talk, she doesn't ask probing questions the way that the doctor did. She doesn't suggest numerous possibilities to explain my various aches and pains, followed by "Let's try this test... and this test... and this test." I don't think she's going to diagnose anything tricky. And I seriously doubt she'd have the confidence to write me a duplicate prescription so that I could obtain my blood thinner from two pharmacies at once and acquire a one-year reserve. My doctor did that for me when I explained the reason - that I'm a prepper, and that it seemed stupid to let a medicine I'd die without almost deplete before permitting me to get a refill. He heard my explanation and said "No problem." (He wouldn't have done it if I'd been asking for a narcotic. Don't get the wrong idea about him. He just realized that it WAS pretty stupid for patients to be unable to have a one year reserve of something like warfarin.)

So, now I too am looking for a doctor. My new house is fairly close (25 miles) to two good-sized towns that probably have clinics. I'll be checking to see who's available and whether they're any good. Having seen what a great doctor can do, I'm no longer willing to "settle" for whatever's offered. You shouldn't either.

I hope you feel better soon and start keeping food down. What you're describing is scary.

Its been a long day and week for me medically.
I have not eaten in a week. Cannot stand the smell of food nor its taste. IN addition my Bowels let loose of anything and everything they could find . It was a better cleaning than prep for a colonoscopy..
The early medical opinions are diverticulitis which would make some sense but I need to get a CT scan...

I have not eaten in days. All I drink is water except for my morning Joe.
SO, tomorrow I will call and see how quickly the Pro Scan Imaging center can schedule me for a CT Scan.. I don't need to do that at the hospital.

There's a lot more to this story I won;t get into but I think it well intentioned but terribly misguided.. My Attorney daughter could not believe what she was hearing..

SO, It's got be my way or I want another doctor .

I also have the night sweats back!
