It WAS windy, last night! Here in the Dallas area we had sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. It was so breezy that even the brass monkeys were flying.

Re: “Weather.com just told me to take wind seriously.”
Speaking of wind -- that IS what we're talking about, right? - it looks like those of us to the East are going to have our hands full Tuesday night. For me, high wind is the worst kind of weather, and this storm is coming from the southwest (technically, SSW.) You know that distant mountain I sometimes post pictures of? It's due west, so I've got considerable exposure to that side. I figure that because of the elvation, whatever gusts my community might expect go double for me.

My biggest concern is power. I don't have a wood stove hooked up (the basement chimney is still having its brick façade and hearth put in), so if I lose power I also lose my only source of heat. Next year it won't be an issue, but this year it could get bad.

On the brighter side, I *did* get the generator hookup installed two weeks ago. I've never used a generator, but if I have to, I'll figure it out.
