Thanks to the Democrats, it's getting harder and harder to distinguish between real stories and Babylon Bee articles.

East Palestine Mayor Tells Biden to Visit AFTER He Loses to Trump

by Sarah Arnold

President Joe Biden has finally made plans to visit the site of the devastating train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, a year after it occurred. However, the town's mayor is not welcoming the president with open arms.

During a recent interview on Fox News, Mayor Trent Conaway doubled down on his criticism of Biden shortly after the incident. The small-town mayor suggested that the best time for the president to visit East Palestine would be in February 2025—after former President Trump won the presidential election.

"The best time for Biden to visit would be February 2025 when he's on his book tour," Conaway said last month.

Fox Business host Kelly Severi asked Conaway if he still supports his remarks, in which he said "100 percent," adding that he is frustrated with the lack of leadership in charge of the United States.

"I 100% stand by the comment about the book tour. I think that's the best time for him personally," the mayor said. "I think the best time for him to come would have been whenever this happened."

Initially, Conaway welcomed Biden to East Palestine, sending a letter to the president suggesting he was open to federal assistance. However, as months went by without a response from Biden, the mayor's frustration with the administration grew.

He has criticized the Biden Administration's lack of help and resources and Norfolk Southern— the company responsible for the train derailment.

In September, Biden told reporters that he had not had the time in his so-called "busy" schedule to visit the incident, despite spending his weekends at the beach and eating ice cream.

"I haven't had the occasion to go to East Palestine yet; there's a lot going on here, and I just haven't been able to break," Biden had said. "I was thinking I'd go to East Palestine this week, but then I was reminded that I've literally got to go around the world. I'm going from Washington to India to Vietnam to… and so it's going to be wild."

On the contrary, former President Trump visited the town, bringing cases of water bottles and other supplies to the people of East Palestine. One month later, Conaway endorsed the former president during a GOP dinner with Eric Trump.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

A few days ago, @RNCResearch provided this update about President Biden's "priorities" since the toxic train derailment disaster in East Palestine, Ohio:

RNC Research (@RNCResearch) ~ 330 days ago, Biden promised he'd visit East Palestine, Ohio, "at some point."

146 days ago, Biden said he hadn't yet because "there's a lot going on."

Biden has had time for a lot of vacation, ice cream, and doing nothing for days on end — just not East Palestine.

About one year later and with an approval rating that remains historically low, guess where the White House is going to have Biden go:

Kelly O'Donnell (@KellyO) ~ The White House says President Biden will visit East Palestine, Ohio in February. He will meet with residents affected by the derailment of Norfolk Southern train to mark the coming anniversary of the incident.

Hmmm ... Brandon's handlers may want to keep some thick plexiglass between him and the residents of East Palestine, Ohio, don'tcha know ...

Since it is East Palestine, Ohio, I wonder if ol' Geriatric Joe thinks he's going to visit with a bunch of Gazans, eh?

Biden has been preoccupied with his top priority which is Ukraine (certainly not the southern border or East Palestine):

Bloomberg (@business) ~ President Joe Biden will visit East Palestine, Ohio, after nearly a year of criticism for not seeing firsthand the impact of a train derailment that left residents fearful about air and water contamination.

The White House has been getting increasing criticism for its handling of the East Palestine disaster, even from CNN:

Citizen Free Press (@CitizenFreePres) ~ Jake Tapper calls out Biden for STILL not visiting East Palestine, Ohio. Pete Buttigieg has "no updates."

Exactly. But it's an election year:

Kelkat (@Tweetytweeter63) ~ The polling must be starting to worry them.

Yes. And they see that lying about how great everything is under Biden isn't moving the needle in their favor.

Sooooooooo ... they decide to send Brandon to East Palestine, Ohio and make him a target for rotten eggs and squishy tomatoes? Wow ... this really is becoming elder abuse.

Shane O'Shea (@shane074penny) ~ Must be an election year what a disgrace.

Tha Truth (@Wag4Ags) ~ It’s an election year ... how many vacations has he been on since the disaster.

A LOT of vacations, which means this is "too little too late":

Pradheep J. Shanker (@Neoavatara) ~ Too little, too late.

Former president and current GOP presidential candidate (and likely nominee) Donald Trump went to East Palestine nearly a year ago:

End Wokeness (@EndWokeness) ~ BREAKING: Biden has finally scheduled a trip to East Palestine, a full year after the toxic train derailment.

President Trump visited East Palestine and delivered aid to residents on February 23rd, 2023.

Will Biden take any swipes at "MAGA extremists" in an Ohio county where Trump won more than 70 percent of the vote in 2020? Stay tuned!
