While Trump and other Republicans had attacked the border deal as too weak, it would have marked a tough change to immigration law and would have given the president far-reaching powers to restrict illegal migrant crossings at the southern border. The Wall Street Journal editorial board has called the deal “the most restrictive migrant legislation in decades.”
Trump didn't build much of a wall & Mexico never paid for any of it.

There was nothing 'bipartisan' about it.
In fact, the 'Bill' had at least three targets - Enabling biden to pretend the border was secure, Billions for Ukraine, and Billions for Israel. And I believe there was money to 'help' 'care for' the illegal invaders flooding across our southern border . . . AND it was supposed to enable Millions more to continue coming across the border.

Before the contents of the 'Bill' were even released it was pronounced 'Dead On Arrival' over in the House. That should have told you just how non-partisan the 'deal' was.
In other words, pretending the Repugnicans 'demanded' it is a bald faced lie.
And lastly, that senile dog turd pretending to be a President, (you know, the one too senile to prosecute for stealing classified documents) . . . inherited a secure southern border when he took office. Biden erased what Trump had done to secure the border. And, with nothing more than a few executive orders biden could re-secure the border.
