do you guys remember when a loaf of bread at the store was only a nickel?????

As kids my brother and I used to go with a red wagon being pulled by one of us along roadways looking for discarded glass soda bottles.

We could pick them up and take them to a Pony Keg where the proprietor would give us 2 cents each for them.

We thought we were rich! But ya could buy candy for a penny and candy bars were a nickel..

I liked those times and days.. early sixties, late fifties.

Yeah, my father earned a $5,000 annual salary back in the late fifties/early sixties, but his monthly mortgage payment was only about $50 to $75. All things are relative.
