thank you for the reply.
A legitimate question because I really don't know.

It appears the renegade fed spy agencies will do what they want to do when they want to do it no matter what rules are in place. Rules are for others but not them apparently.

I guess what I am wondering is whether there is any real way to keep down the totalitarian power that the various spy agencies apparently exercise and make them accountable?

Unless there is a BIG HAMMER somewhere that will be used I cannot see what would slow down the abuses.

And oversight of these rogue elements needs to be established and utilized with real teeth so they give second thought about being in violation of people's rights. I see no deterrent or repurcussions for bad behavior at this time..

Any ideas? TKS! Thumbs Up

This is about spying on Americans without a warrant. The FISA re-authorization is up for a vote. The intel community is looking to expand spying on Americans. So Now they are claiming they wouldn’t have discovered this so-called security threat without the FISA program. It’s probably just fear mongering to get it approval. Several stories floating around about what it is. From terrorist plots to new Russian space tech.
They’re probably keeping it a secret because it Bull schit.

BTW the government has used the data base over 270,000 times to spy on Americans without a warrant through the FISA program
