Re: “Night sky just several miles offshore is amazing, just with the naked eye. ”
I once drove to the far side of Guam from where most of its cities are. It was night and as black as any outdoor place that I'd ever been. (Turning off the lights while caving tops it.) Wow, the stars! Better by far than here - where I can still see some urban glow on the horizons. I parked on the coast and sat transfixed for at least half an hour.

Some of my favorite memories involve sitting outside at night and doing nothing.

Night sky just several miles offshore is amazing, just with the naked eye. Then look thru a pair of simple binoculars and the space between those stars is filled in with hundreds of other stars. Just Within that narrow field of view. Really cool.

I read Atlas Shrugged in 1965 when I was in the 10th grade. In government class! I went to a prep school for a few years.
Book probably be banned in a public school..
