Re: “Never had to mess with something like that...”
It went badly. We did our first two auction pickups, then drove 90 minutes north to Ashland for pickup #3. It had only three items: Some bowls, a piece of Celtic glass, and the computer. We got there 2½ hours after the pickup had begun and then had to wait outside for 45 minutes as they SLOWLY processed customer after customer. It was 22° and windy. EVERYONE was complaining. When they finally got to us, the first thing they did was to tell us that the computer had been broken. Someone had hit it and cracked the display. "Do you still want it?" they asked. "NO!" I said. I was really annoyed at how they could be so careless with such a thing. I know that they probably weren't the ones who broke it, but they surely could have put a fragile computer into a place where it wouldn't have been taken out by a customer. "Then we'll refund your money," they said. Big deal. We won it for an incredibly good price. Getting the eleven bucks back doesn't even come close to making up for the inconvenience. The bowls and glass were NOT enough to justify the drive.

Oh well. You win some, you lose some.
