About the Computer . . .

Is it really a BIOS based password? Or an O.S. password?

Hmmmm . . . Looking up ASUS BIOS passwords . . .

LONG STORY SHORT:

If an ASUS computer has a admin bios password at boot.

1) Open computer and remove the button battery on motherboard to reset clock

2) Check the recovery date by pressing alt+r at the ENTER PASSWORD screen.

3) Consult this list for the recovery password http://pastebin.com/L3c3rySj

4) Enter recovery password at recovery screen.

5) Eat pizza?

This process requires another computer or at least your phone. (I assume you got one because you're reading this)

By the way, if the thing has an SSD hard drive - that alone would be worth the $11.

We have three auction pickups Saturday... a total of just nine lots. Most are small things: Some Celtic Stained Glass my wife bought ($28 ), some kitchen appliances, bowls & pans, a closet organizer (worth $200 new, we paid $27), a little bit of art, a "Euro Pro" Toaster Oven ($5) and a set of 80 vintage comic books ($12). The most interesting item is an Asus All-in-One Computer bought for $11. It works, but the BIOS-based password is unknown... and I don't know how difficult it may be to reset it. Without the password, we can't even format the hard drive... making the computer useless. There's got to be a way, though. We haven't owned one of these before. As you can see, there's no "box." It's just a monitor and keyboard. Thanks to the lack of additional photos or description, we don't even know its model or specs. It'll be a good and probably frustrating learning experience.
