Re: “Just wondering. Do you really like or enjoy those pieces of art?”Art is a funny thing. Does anyone really think the Mona Lisa is such a stunningly beautiful painting? I doubt it. Yet, if you enter any great metropolitan gallery, you'll likely find its walls replete with comparable portraits (though none with the Mona Lisa's value). It's the artist, the history, the collection, the subject or the precedent that makes many pieces notable. Notice that I didn't include "beauty."

Then there are abstracts. What are they all about? Frequently, nobody knows. In many cases, abstracts should be displayed in isolation, existing only to grant the wall relief from boredom.

I like some of our wall art... a minority... tremendously. The Bob Hope hat, the 1723 publication, the two fish fossils, the Le Kinff (which I gather you don't like) and several of the ocean scenes come to mind. They'll make the main floor. Others will go to the basement stairwell, the bare walls of which can hold dozens. Others may get rotated in and out. Still others, I'll evaluate and get rid of.

No, I *don't* like them all. But, sometimes, "interesting" is more important.

Just wondering. Do you really like or enjoy those pieces of art?

I do not find them interesting or anything.. BUT, I am not someone who liked "ART" in school or anywhere else.

So it must a left side/right side dominance thingy????

The only 'artsy" thing I ever was good at was in music playing instruments. I play Clarinet and three saxes, Baritone, tenor, and alto Sax.

THAT is the extent of my art side. I never liked "art" classes but loved mathematics, debate, English grammar,
and especially sciences.

SO You have a side of you with your appreciation of ART and paintings that I simply cannot see..

Glad you are finding some things that are of interest to you at a good price.. and having some fun at auction while doing it!
