I don't think so. I think Putin knows that his dreams of conquering all of Ukraine are swirling down the toilet. And he is threatening 'All OUT WAR' in hopes of frightening the euroweenies into surrendering the prize (first Ukraine) to him.
First, Worst Case - Russia 'goes nuclear'. Now putin done tried the 'I got Nukes' gambit and it got him nowhere. Why? Because Europe alone has enough nukes to reduce Russia to a radioactive grease spot. Worse for Russia, I suspect their 'nuclear arsenal' is not much more proficient than the rest of their military. Meaning it is quite possible the anti-missile technology available might just end Russia's 'nuclear domination ambitions'.
Second, 'conventional invasion' - What is Russia going to attack NATO with? They lost all their front line tanks in Ukraine. Russia is also having problems scrounging up enough 'troops' to prosecute the War in Ukraine. Poland is rumored to have the biggest Army in Europe now. Add in the fact that NATO might just have enough long range cruise missiles to write 'Finished' to Russia's oil industry . . .
Something interesting. I'm looking at a site which claims to have a comparison of Russia Versus Poland combat power . . . and the site is displaying Russia with an overwhelming superiority. But it claims Russia has 'Number 1 Tank Strength' of 14,777. Russia does not have that kind of tank strength. Not when what they are deploying to Ukraine is cold war left overs. How many more lies are in that site?
