MonkeyTrots > It was RMN - Richard Millhouse Nixon. He should have been impeached for the Wage and Price Controls -

Correct me if I'm wrong . . .
But the demo-rats handed Nixon a trifecta of budget busting 'initiatives'.

Johnson's Vietnam War. (Won by Nixon.)
Kennedy's 'Man on the Moon'. (Accomplished by Nixon.)

And Johnson's 'War on Poverty'. Lost.

I suspect it was the congress 'spending a peace dividend' on the 'War on Poverty' as much as anything else that drove sky high inflation.

And, it was Ford who declared the war in Vietnam was over . . . and Ford presided over the exodus from Vietnam after N. Vietnam violated the peace agreement Nixon hammered out.

And I found this :

I will agree with you that wage and price controls both should be Un-Constitutional.

But I would like to have what drove Nixon to those things discussed and recognized.

Zim.
