Did the skies improve for any of you guys? 

Not here. We are covered with thick rain clouds.

Sounds like a great adventure!

I overdosed on a med this morning accidentally, a blood thinner. Memory......... ARGHHHHHH!

Now I'm waiting to hear from my heart doctor.. Great!

Anybody got any extra memory cells they can send me? lol!!

The clouds and temperature for tomorrow are still really promising, so we're going to leave about 0830 and drive past Burlington trying to find a town or open area right on the center of totality. We'll have 4 minutes or less of "Darkness," so we might as well make the most of it.

From the map below, you can see that Burlington isn't perfect. It's also going to be very crowded since it's the best known city in the area. Plattsburgh would be better, but we'd like to avoid cities entirely and park in a small town.

The second map below zooms in on an area about 10 miles north of Burlington. The red line I've drawn on the map shows the best totality. Our target is therefore going to be St. Albans... and, if it's open, St. Albans Bay. The nice thing about a bay is that it's flat and must have some kind of view over the water. During totality, horizons are reportedly amazing in all directions - like a 360° sunset. This is a mountainous area, so there is no place with a 360° view of the horizon. I'll be happy with ANY visible horizon.

If St. Albans doesn't work, we'll wend our way toward Enosburg Falls (to the Northeast, still on the mid-line and still south of Canada), but perhaps investigating some of the really small towns like St. Rocks. We should have a couple of hours in which to find something decent... but I'm expecting a LOT of people to be looking for the same thing.
